Los Angeles (May 21, 2009) – Charles Espenlaub and Jason Saini both visited the podium at Mosport International Raceway with second and third place finishes for their StopTech-equipped Tri-Point MAZDA6s at Round 4 of the SCCA Pro Racing SPEED World Challenge Touring Car series.
The success allowed Saini, last year’s Rookie-of-the-Year, to retain his current Drivers Championship points lead as the series heads to historic Watkins Glen for the July 4th weekend’s Round 5. The dual podiums also allowed Mazda to remain second in the Manufacturers Championship and set its sights on the lead.TriPoint takes 2nd and 3rd on StopTech brakes at the 2009 Mosport stop of the SCCA Speed World Challenge Series
“It’s great to be up here…it took Jason and me a couple of laps to get clear of [Seth] Thomas and Kleinubing behind us,” commented Espenlaub on his second place finish. “Today’s race was a lot of fun,” added Saini. “Charles and I were going back and forth on the radio.”
Their Tri-Point teammate, Eric Foss, was taken out with a flat tire in the middle of the race, but not before he earned the AutoWeek Move of the Race award on StopTech brakes for his opening lap efforts. “I had a great launch and quickly got down the inside of Jason and Pierre,” he noted. “By the time we got around to Turn 5, I was glued to Peter’s bumper.”
StopTech’s “podium or pole-position” season continues on a roll with Tri-Point’s dual podium weekend. Team StopTech, which is itself not an actual race team, consists of the select production based race cars from the Tri-Point Motorsports, GMG Racing and Turner Motorsport teams competing on StopTech performance brakes in the Grand-Am Koni Sports Car Challenge Series and the SCCA Pro Racing SPEED World Challenge Series.  Team StopTech has already chalked up 2009 first place victories at the Toyota Long Beach Grand Prix, the SPEED World Challenge round in New Jersey, and the KONI Challenge stop at Laguna Seca.
